Sunshine Plaza
Client: Lendlease

In 2016, NEACH proudly participated in the initial phase of the Sunshine Plaza upgrade, contributing to a $400 million redevelopment project that positioned the Plaza as the largest retail centre north of Brisbane. This redevelopment transformed Sunshine Plaza into a premier fashion, leisure, and tourist destination, expanding the centre from 73,000 square metres to over 107,000 square metres.

As part of the initial upgrades ahead of the major 2019 expansion, NEACH was engaged to provide critical steel structure enhancements for two key areas:

Riverfront Outdoor Dining Area: Sunshine Plaza’s scenic riverfront dining precinct required a structural upgrade to support its new and expanded layout. NEACH supplied and installed durable steel structures to ensure the dining area could accommodate increased foot traffic, while delivering a modern, open aesthetic that blended seamlessly with the surroundings. Our work here not only added visual appeal but also reinforced the area’s functionality, to better serve both shoppers and diners.

Iconic Plaza Arch: The Plaza’s iconic arch, a well-known feature of the shopping centre, needed to be moved forward to accommodate the site’s larger footprint. NEACH’s team provided the structural steel support required to safely and precisely reposition the arch, preserving its place as a focal point within the newly expanded centre. This was a complex task that required meticulous planning and coordination with other contractors on-site, ensuring minimal disruption.
